Silk for all seasons

Silk styles for every season

We love silk—don’t you?

A while ago, women would only wear silk blouses when it was time to dress up. Silk was reserved for pencil skirts and suits. Now, we have a lot more freedom when styling our silks. Women (including us!) like to wear the lovely material a little more casually.

With our newfound silky freedom, we're incorporating beautiful blouses into our in-between season wardrobe. We thought we would show you a few ways to wear silk for these last few weeks of summer and how to transition your favourite blouses to cooler days too.

1. Silk that makes a statement.

Show off your personality with silk that makes a statement—just like this red floral blouse by Equipment.

We love Equipment in Ginger Laurier! You might have heard of them before. This popular brand was founded in Paris in 1976 and has defined effortlessly chic fashion trends for women around the world.

How to wear it: Although we like to make fashion statements, we also like to use items you likely already have in your closet. Remember those white jeans we told you to find a few times now? Our model is wearing Current Elliot white denim with her bold red blouse.

The difference is in the shoes when transitioning this outfit. For warmer days, let your summer pedicured toes feel the sunshine. We are big fans of Birkenstocks at Ginger Laurier, so we chose a fun red pair! As the temperature drops, swap your sandals for our other favourite shoes—BeautiFeel pumps in this dark navy colour.

2. Cold shoulder silk

A cold shoulder blouse is the perfect transition piece from summer to fall! Show off your hard-earned tan even as the weather cools in this Johnny Was silk top.

We’ve told you about Johnny Was a few times before. His clothes seem to be sewn with California sunshine giving off all the beautiful boho chic vibes! He creates clothing that makes casual cool, almost beachy trends look and feel sophisticated. Johnny Was' details are more like art than clothing.

How to wear it: In the late summer heat, bring out your white denim a few more times! Add some sandals or wedges and you’re ready for the patio. If it’s a little chilly, try these black MOS MOSH pants and BeautiFeel pumps.

Do you know much about MOS MOSH? Their heart is in the details. Quality fit and high-end fabrics are priority, but their passion for fashion comes in at a close second. These pants will carry your style through fall and winter, so they are another great staple to add to your closet.

Date night, or a day at the office—feel great wearing this outfit anywhere the last rays of summer sunshine take you!

3. Classic in white

We go crazy for the simplicity of a white blouse and blue denim! This Bailey 44 white silk blouse is a flowy favourite to transition from summer to fall.

Bailey 44 is guided by their philosophy “By Women, For Women.” Female founders and designers create classic cool essentials for their real-life female muses (that means us!). Wear these clothes with ease knowing that another woman designed each piece with the goal of offering both sophisticated style and comfort.

How to wear it: The Hispanita floral mule shoe feels fun with this classic look and a Love Heals pearl and crystal necklace ties everything together. We’ve completed this outfit with AG blue denim. Who wants to replicate this outfit for themselves?

Bring the entire outfit with you into the fall by adding a cozy Chan Luu cashmere scarf. We always have a few of these colourful beauties in stock!
